A Vintage Hardcover Book (measures 4" x 4 1/2" [10 x 11 cm]; 314 pages) (Learn More) Mickey Mouse is an animated animation cartoon character created in 1928 by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. He first appeared in the cartoon short Steamboat Willie which was one of the first cartoons with synchronized sound and the first cartoon to feature a fully post-produced soundtrack. He was massively merchandised in the 1930s, and was a major part of the success of the Walt Disney studio. After his starring role in Fantasia (in the Sorcerer's Apprentice sequence), his popularity waned somewhat, but he remained the mascot of the studio, and has always been central to the studio (for example, Disney had a "Mickey Mouse Club" TV show where the children wore mouse ears). Important Added Info: Note that in the 1930s, Whitman Publishing had great success with "Big Little Books", and the similar "Better Little Books", which were tiny books that each had an image on one side and text on the other. They were mostly aimed at children and teenagers, and often were adapted from comic strips, comic books, movies, etc. Also note that we have pictured the front cover and an interior 2-page spread. Condition: poor to fair. The spine is missing and there is much surface paper loss on the covers, and someone performed amateur restoration to the cover, in Mickey's face.
