An Original 1975 (from the first release of this movie in the U.K.) Vintage Theatrical Folded British Quad Movie Poster (BQ; Quad Crown; measures 30" x 40" [76 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the cult classic 1974 Tobe Hooper Bryanston horror slasher thriller ("Who will survive and what will be left of them?"; "America's most bizarre and brutal crimes!..."; "What happened is true. Now the motion picture that's just as real.") starring Marilyn Burns, Paul A. Partain, Edwin Neal (as the hitchhiker), Jim Siedow, Gunnar Hansen ("as Leatherface"), William Vail, Teri McMinn, John Larroquette (as the narrator), Allen Danziger, John Dugan, and Ed Guinn NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! This movie was submitted to the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) in February 1975, and it was not even allowed to be released with an X rating! The distributor made very slight cuts and resubmitted it and it was again rejected for wide release, but the Greater London Council allowed for it to be shown in London only, and British quads were made that had "X (LONDON)" under the title. A few local areas defied the ban on the movie and British quads were made that had "X (LOCAL)" under the title. VERY FEW OF EITHER TYPE OF QUAD HAVE SURVIVED! The quad offered here is the one for the London release, and, as noted above, we have never auctioned it before, and we have also never auctioned the quad for the local release, and it may be many years before we are again consigned either type! Also note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster has a slightly diagonal crease to the left of the top quarter of the right vertical fold and a similar one at the bottom of the right vertical fold and similar ones at the top and bottom of the left vertical fold, but the other three are much less prominent than the one at top right, and all these likely occurred when the poster was machine folded. There are two extra horizontal folds 2" and 4" from the bottom border, which were surely done when someone wanted to display the poster with less of the bottom of the poster showing. There are two sets of tack holes running across the bottom blank area and some tack holes around the edges. I feel certain that any collector would be happy to display this ultra rare poster just as it is, or certainly, one could have it restored. Either way, the new owner will have an incredibly rare and desirable poster to display on their wall! Learn More about condition grades
