Date Sold 8/7/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Mutiny On the Bounty, the 1935 Frank Lloyd (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) seafaring English Navy Naval Tahiti tropical island adventure melodrama ("The giant $2,000,000 production!"; "A thousand hours of hell for one moment of love"; based on the first of the classic trilogy of books by Charles Nordhoff & James Norman Hall; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Charles Laughton (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as Captain Bligh), Clark Gable (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as Fletcher Christian), Franchot Tone (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Herbert Mundin, Eddie Quillan, Dudley Diggs, Donald Crisp, Spring Byington, Movita, and Mamo Clark (billed as "Mamo", a Hawaiian beauty who made her debut in this movie and appeared in ten more movies). Note that this is the only movie that has ever had 3 different actors nominated for the Best Actor Oscar! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this scene card, and the last one was 18 years ago! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. The card had paper loss in the top left corner extending into the edge of the leaves. It had small paper loss in the top right corner, in the blank area, and a number of pinholes in each corner. It had a faint fine scuff mark in the right of Laughton's cheek and a scuff mark to the right of Gable's hair. It appears that someone located another card (surely a much lesser scene), and then cut out the area in the top left corner of this card that was missing from the other card and re-attached it with tape from the back, and they also replaced the missing top right blank corner, all without backing the card. They left alone the other defects. The card displays pretty well, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Learn More about condition grades
