An Original Vintage English Key Book (measures 8" x 11" [20 x 28 cm]; 38 pages; contains 136 photos that each measure 3 3/4" x 4 3/4") (Learn More)

The Guv'nor (released in the U.S. as "Mister Hobo" and "Mr. Hobo"), the 1935 Milton Rosmer English rags-to-riches comedy ("Here's a new Arliss for you!"; "George Arliss as a lovable vagabond"; about a hobo who is arrested in Paris, but when the police learn his last name is Rothschild, they contact the famous family; it turns out he is no relation, but the family feels sorry for him, and give him 2,000 francs, which he takes and deposits in the bank, and the bank gives him a job, and he winds up president of the bank!) starring George Arliss (in the title role as Francois Rothschild/The Guv'nor), Gene Gerrard, Ivor Barnard, Frank Cellier, and Mary Clare

Important Added Info: Note that most key book stills measure 8" x 10", but the key book stills in this actual key book measure 3 3/4" x 4 3/4", and are four on each page. Also note that we have previously auctioned a few items from the U.S. release of this book, but we have NEVER before auctioned any first release English items, which are "country of origin" items for this English movie! Not only that, but while we have auctioned hundreds of "key book" stills that were removed from bound volumes, this is only the third time we have ever had an actual real entire key book! Collectors who obtained these would take all of the stills out and sell them individually, so certainly very, very few complete key books survive!

Condition: good to very good. The photo in the top left corner of the first page has a stain in the left of it, and there is water staining at the top of the inside front cover and some water staining around the edges of both inside covers. The rest of the key book stills are in pretty good condition, but are slightly curled around the edges (see our images).
