eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 7x0075 SHEB WOOLEY signed 9x22 contract '51 hired for $300/week as Pvt. Jessup in Distant Drums! Date Sold 6/19/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Autographed Contract (measures 8 1/2" x 21 3/4"; 2 pages) (Learn More) Sheb Wooley (born Shelby F. Wooley) was an actor and singer from the 1950s to the 1980s. Some of his movies include: Rocky Mountain, Giant, The War Wagon, and The Outlaw Josey Wales. In 1958, he had a gigantic hit with the novelty song "The Purple People Eater" and after that, he spent as much time on singing as he did on acting. Wooley passed away in 2003 at the age of 82. Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by Sheb Wooley! Also included is sheet music for Mr. Wooley's novelty hit, "The Purple People Eater", that the contract could be matted and framed with! Note that the contract has Mr. Wooley's social security number on it, and we have placed a white box over that number in our image, but of course, the actual item does not have that white box. Note that this contract is on a very large single sheet, and we have photographed both sides of the contract, so our images show everything (however, there are two "riders" attached to the front and back of the lower part of the contract, and Mr. Wooley signed one of them with his full name, and we photographed the front and back as they appear, with the riders over the contract; they obscure some of the fine print of the contract, but not Mr. Wooley's signature, which is beneath one of the riders; see our images)! Since Mr. Wooley signed the rider with his full name, the winner of this auction gets two signatures (one on the contract and one on the rider)! Note that our consignor has been a memorabilia dealer for the past 30 years, and he tells us that he is certain this autograph is authentic. In some cases he obtained the autographs in person, and in other cases (like with contracts and agreements), it is obvious the signatures are authentic, but he vouches for the authenticity of every item that he has consigned to us, and we also feel certain that the autographs are authentic. Condition: very good. The contract is in nice condition. The sheet music is in "fair" condition, with creases and stains. Learn More about condition grades
