An Unfolded French Advertising Poster (measures 49 1/2" x 71" [126 x 180 cm]) (Learn More) Lefevre-Utile (LU) is a French cookie/biscuit manufacturer which was founded in Nantes, France in 1846 by Jean-Romain Lefevre. They are well-known for a poster created by Firmin Bouisset called Petit Ecolier ("The Little Schoolboy") which incorporated the LU initials. The poster was used extensively and within a few years, the success of the logo resulted in the company becoming better known as LU. Artist: d'apres Firmin Bouisset Important Added Info: Note that we have only auctioned one example of this extremely rare poster in all our years of auctioning (and that one sold for $360)! Also, note that this poster lists the artist as d'apres Firmin Bouisset, which indicates that either this was not the first time this artwork was used, or that another artist copied and/or edited the original art. In the case of this poster, it's almost certainly because the artwork has been reused. Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It was bent at center while rolled, which has caused a series of creases running vertically near center (see our image). There is a tear at lower right. Learn More about condition grades
