An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More)

Human Wreckage, the 1923 John Griffith Wray & Dorothy Davenport silent courtroom legal lawyer drug ring crime thriller melodrama ("You'll never forget Mrs. Wallace Reid in 'Human Wreckage'"; a long diatribe against drug usage, many examples of people's lives being ruined by drugs, and the movie ends with Dorothy Davenport addressing the audience and asking for THEIR help in ending the use of illegal narcotics everywhere) starring Dorothy Davenport (billed as "Mrs. Wallace Reid"), James Kirkwood, Bessie Love, Robert McKim, George Hackathorne, Claire McDowell, Victory Bateman, Harry Northrup, Eric Mayne, Otto Hoffman, Lucille Rickson, and "all star cast". This movie is very notable for having been produced, partially written, and perhaps partially directed by Dorothy Davenport. Note that this movie was given a truly massive release (apparently, the producers thought that audiences everywhere would flock to a movie on such a sordid subject), and I have seen the pressbook, and every poster has a wonderful completely different image from all the rest, and there were two completely different sets of lobby cards created, one a regular looking one, and the other printed on a metallic gold stock, which was labeled "SET A" in the bottom right corner. Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that original poster material from this classic drug movie is UNBELIEVABLY rare! There were two different sets of lobby cards, and we have sold cards from both sets, but this is the second first release poster on this title we have ever sold (we were consigned two entirely different window cards, and we sold one on 4/22/2010, and now this one is being offered, and it is liable to be decades before we see another first release poster)! Also note that this window card was folded in half, and because it is separated across the middle, it can be sent in one of our standard size mailers. If it is purchased by itself (or solely with other posters that can be sent in standard size mailers), it will be sent that way. But if it is purchased with posters that need to be sent in oversized mailers, then we will of course send it that way.

Condition: fair. The poster has separated across the middle and there are tears, stains, and tiny areas of paper loss around the edges of both pieces. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its defects described above and are willing to pay to have them properly restored!
