An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) The Runaway, the 1926 William C. de Mille silent movie acting hillbilly romantic screwball comedy (Bow is a Hollywood actress who thinks she has killed another actor, so she hides in the remote Kentucky mountains, and finds herself the object of affection of two local citizens) starring Clara Bow, Warner Baxter, George Bancroft, William Powell, and Edythe Chapman. Note that Warner Baxter was born in 1889, and in the early 1920s he rose to prominence in silent movies, becoming a major star of the 1920s, while he was in his 30s. He won the Oscar for Best Actor as The Cisco Kid in "In Old Arizona" in 1929, and he remained a top star throughout the 1930s! Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. Note that Clara Bow was the most famous "flapper girl" of the mid to late 1920s (she became known as "The It Girl" after the character she played based on the popular novel by Elinor Glyn). She had a major role in Wings, and was Paramount's biggest star at that time. But she had a notorious private life and seemingly "settled down" when she married cowboy star Rex Bell in 1931 (she had two children and she retired from movies), but sadly in 1949 she went into a mental institution after a failed suicide attempt (she had had psychiatric issues for quite some time) and she was released but never returned to her family, and lived alone until her death in 1965. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: very good to fine. The glass slide itself is in nice condition and the cardboard holder has some minor smudges (as can be seen in our super-sized images).
