An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded German Movie Window Card (WC; measures 9 1/2" x 13 3/4" [24 x 35 cm]) (Learn More) Der Ewige Traum (literally translates to "The Eternal Dream"), the 1934 Arnold Fanck German historical mountain-climbing melodrama (about a man who makes his living guiding tourists up mountains, and one day when he returns, he finds his child has died, which causes him to make a massive change in his life) starring Sepp Rist, Brigitte Horney, Ernst Nansen, Eduard von Winterstein, and Helene Fehdmer. It appears this movie was never released in the U.S. Note that Arnold Fanck was a German director who loved skiing and made many "mountain films" that included skiing sequences. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this German window card, which is a "country of origin" poster for this German movie! Of course, ANY German poster of any kind from before World War II is incredibly rare, because their paper shortages were even greater than those of other countries, and hardly any paper of any kind from before World War II survives (and in addition to shortages, items associated with the Nazi era were often destroyed for that reason). This is one of a remarkable group of 15 1930s German window cards we were consigned, which we are currently auctioning in 15 separate auctions. After these auctions have ended, it might be years before we even get one or two more of these. Finally, note that this German window card is printed on a heavy paper stock that cannot be rolled.
