An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Mexican Movie Poster (measures 27" x 36 1/2" [69 x 93 cm]) (Learn More) Piel Canela (literally translates to "Cinnamon Skin"), the 1953 Juan Jose Ortega Mexican Havana Cuba romantic melodrama (a doctor falls in love with a gangster's moll and repairs her disfigured face, hoping he can reform her; partially filmed in Cuba) starring Sara Montiel (in the title role as Marucha/Piel Canela), Manolo Fabregas, Ramon Gay, Felipe de Alba, Fernando Casanova, Rosa Elena Durgel, Pedro Vargas, and Rosita Fornes. It appears this movie was never released in the U.S. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Artist: Juanino Renau Berenguer Important Added Info: Note that this poster was printed in Mexico but designed to be used in Cuba when the film was released by Distribuidora de Peliculas Continental (that is under the snipe at upper-left). It is similar to the regular Mexican poster but has different credits (emphasizing Cuban performers) and features artwork of Cuban singer Rosita Fornes in the background. Condition: good. The poster has paper loss across the top and there are some other defects that can be clearly seen in our super-sized image. This Mexican poster is somewhat fragile. Mexican posters were printed on a paper stock that often ages very poorly, and also darkens. This poster has darkened somewhat and is more fragile along the foldlines (but of course, any talented restorer could linenback the poster, after which it would look great).
