An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 20" x 25 3/4" [51 x 65 cm]) (Learn More) Lady For a Day, the classic 1933 Frank Capra (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) New York City romantic gambling mistaken identity crime comedy ("Takes its place along the greatest pictures ever made!"; "Takes its place with the greatest!"; "From the story by Damon Runyon"; "Screen play by Robert Riskin"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about a soft-hearted superstitious gangster and gambler who befriends Apple Annie, an old lady who sells apples in the street, and who has told her daughter at a finishing school that she is wealthy, and Dave the Dude spends a zillion dollars making the dream become a reality!) starring Warren William (as Dave the Dude), May Robson (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; as Apple Annie), Guy Kibbee (as Judge Blake), Glenda Farrell (as Missouri), Ned Sparks (as Happy), Jean Parker, Walter Connolly (as Count Romero), Barry Norton, Hobart Bosworth, and Nat Pendleton (as Shakespeare). Note that Frank Capra re-made this movie in 1961 (his very final movie) with Bette Davis in the lead role, under the title of "Pocketful of Miracles". Also note that this was the very famous movie where, at the Academy Awards ceremony that year, Will Rogers was presenting the Best Director Award, and he looked at the winner's name, and called out "Come on up here, Frank!", and Frank Capra started running down the aisle, so happy he had won an Academy Award, only to discover that it was actually Frank Lloyd who had won! That must have been a really long walk back to his seat! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have only auctioned two examples in all our years of auctioning! We auctioned this same poster in 2010 (and a second, different example was auctioned in 2011) so this is still ONLY the second example we have ever auctioned. Note also that due to the poster's condition (see below) it is quite fragile and cannot be rolled and it will be sent in a large flat package that will measure approximately 22" x 28", so please bear this added shipping expense in mind before bidding. Note finally that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 20" x 25 3/4" [51 x 65 cm]. Condition: poor. The borders were all trimmed off (and the top was trimmed to around the edge of the headshots of the stars) and there is staining and some paper loss scattered throughout the poster. The poster is quite fragile. Learn More about condition grades
