A 1972 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Japanese "B2" Movie Poster (measures 20 1/4" x 28 5/8" [51 x 73 cm]) (Learn More)

Nuit et Brouillard (released in English-speaking countries as "Night and Fog"), the 1955 (see below for more release date info) Alain Resnais French World War II (WWII) Nazi concentration camp historical documentary narrated by Michel Bouquet and featuring Reinhard Heydrich, Heinrich Himmler, Adolf Hitler, and Julius Streicher. Note that an author and film researcher tells us that reliable release information is difficult to find for many countries, and many never had official theatrical releases. It was first shown at the 1956 Cannes Film Festival and likely received a French theatrical release in 1960 as the main attraction for a program of French short films. It was also released in England in 1960 (it was nominated for a BAFTA award in 1961), possibly as part of the same program of French short films. In the United States, there was a 1962/1963 brochure for Night & Fog (in 16mm), but it was meant for educational institutions and not theaters (though art house theaters may have shown it also). While IMDB says that the first Japanese release was in 1961, the researcher says that it was in 1965.
