Blystone military gambling comedy ("Edward L. Alperson presents the Mary Roberts Rinehart Saturday Evening Post story"; about a World War I soldier who has made a fortune by making wacky bets with his fellow soldiers, and then collecting on them, and he bets them that he can get married during a leave that is under a day long, but he runs into great difficulties) starring James Ellison, Terry Walker, Morgan Hill, Arthur Lake, and Ward Bond. Note that this movie is a remake of a silent movie from 1919 (with the same name). But there is a fascinating additional story about that! The 1919 movie was made by Thomas H. Ince, and starred Douglas MacLean, who became a star from playing that role. After Mr. Ince died, Douglas MacLean bought the rights to the movie from Mr. Ince's estate, because it had so much meaning to his career. But then, 18 years later, he saw young actor James Ellison in Cecil B. DeMille's "The Plainsman" and decided to produce a remake of this movie himself, starring Ellison, in the hopes it would do for Ellison what it had done for him.
