An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" (8x10) Movie Still (Learn More) Sadie Thompson, the classic 1928 Raoul Walsh silent South Seas Pago-Pago silent romantic missionary-drawn-to-prostitute-he-hates melodrama ("Based on the story by W. Somerset Maugham") starring Gloria Swanson (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Sadie Thompson), Lionel Barrymore, Blanche Frederici, Charles Lane, Florence Midgley, and Raoul Walsh (the great director in an acting role, as Swanson's boyfriend!). Note that this movie was remade as "Rain" in 1932 with Joan Crawford and Walter Huston in the lead roles, and again in 1953 as "Miss Sadie Thompson" starring Rita Hayworth and Jose Ferrer NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that the still shows a great candid image of Swanson pretending to be fed by Barrymore (the snipe tells how Barrymore is sour because he had to spend hours on the set eating food)! Also note that there is a paper snipe glued on the back of the still that describes the scene on the front (it does not affect the front of the still). Condition: good to very good.
