Date Sold 7/12/2011Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Chapter #7 (Molten Menace) Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) King of the Rocket Men, the 1949 Fred Brannon science fiction (sci-fi) fantasy serial ("A Republic Serial in 12 Chapters"; "Power-packed Adventure!"; "There's never been such action... such suspense.. such dynamite-charged excitement in Any serial!"; about a group of atomic scientists who suspect a traitor in their midst, so one of the scientists becomes a super hero Rocket Man, and works on exposing the evil "Dr. Vulcan", who has a device that can cause an earthquake, and when the Mayor of New York City refuses to pay a billion dollar ransom, the device is used, and there is an earthquake and massive tsunami in New York City's harbor, which was done by reusing footage from Republic's earlier 1939 disaster movie, "S.O.S. Tidal Wave"!) starring Tristram Coffin (in the title role as Jeff King), Mae Clarke, House Peters Jr., Don Haggerty, I. Stanford Jolley (as Dr. Vulcan), and James Craven. Note that in 1951, this movie was massively edited into the Republic feature film "Lost Planet Airmen", and because it was made two years later, and because it was so condensed that entire characters were lost and major plot elements were eliminated, many collectors see it as a re-edited separate movie, and not as a feature version of a serial, so we list "Lost Planet Airmen" as a separate title, but we don't argue with anyone who sees it as the "feature version" of this serial. Note that in 1966, an entirely different feature version of "King of the Rocket Men" was created for TV distribution. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: very good. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back of the card! Learn More about condition grades
