An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Mexican Movie Poster (measures approximately 27" x 37" [69 x 94 cm]) (Learn More) Rumba Caliente (released in the U.S. as "Hot Rumba"), the 1952 Gilberto Martinez Solares Mexican musical comedy (about a janitor and a cigarette girl forming a nightclub dance act) starring Adalberto Martinez (billed as Resortes), Lilia Prado, Oscar Pulido, Gloria Mestre, and Isolina Carrillo Artist: Ernesto Garcia Cabral Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this Mexican poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this Mexican movie, and only one in the last 17 years (that last one sold for $1,355)! Note that this linenbacked Mexican poster (and 98 others, which we are auctioning in 99 separate auctions) comes from a remarkable collection of Mexican posters which was assembled over many decades! We auctioned the first 81 of these in our August 2023 Major Auction, and those included many great rarities, and they sold for as much as $2,505, but there were also a number of great bargains that sold for well under the cost of linenbacking alone! NOW, we are auctioning an additional 99 posters from this amazing collection, which again includes many great rarities, including 22 Mexican posters with art by Ernesto Garcia Cabral! There will again be the chance for great buys in these honest no reserve auctions, and many of these posters may not be offered again for many years, if ever! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had tears and areas of paper loss on parts of most folds, and it had many pinholes and tears around the edges. There was paper loss in the middle right at the top of the girl's legs. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. Given the poster's many defects, the restorer did a pretty good job, but bear all of the above in mind before bidding.
