Date Sold 12/15/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Herald (measures 7" x 9 3/4" [18 x 25 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) The Bride of Frankenstein, the classic 1935 James Whale Universal monster horror thriller sequel ("The Monster Demands a Mate!"; "The monster thriller"; "Who will be The Bride of Frankenstein. Who will dare?"; the second of the Universal Frankenstein movies, and the only example I am aware of where a sequel is clearly superior to the original movie!; this is James Whale's masterpiece, and almost everyone agrees it is among the finest movies ever made, regardless of genre) starring Boris Karloff (as the Frankenstein monster), Colin Clive (as Dr. Henry Frankenstein), Valerie Hobson (as the bride of Dr. Frankenstein), Elsa Lanchester (in the title role as the bride of the Frankenstein monster, and also as Mary Shelley!), Una O'Connor, Ernest Thesiger (as Dr. Pretorius), E.E. Clive, O.P. Heggie, John Carradine, Dwight Frye (as Karl), Gavin Gordon, and Neil Fitzgerald NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is one of four wonderful Universal heralds we were consigned for this auction (they are from Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Son of Frankenstein, and The Mummy). We are auctioning them in four separate auctions. Since first release posters and even lobby cards from these movies cost astronomical amounts, these heralds are a wonderful way to include first release paper from these titles in a horror collection. This is a rare opportunity to acquire one or more of these wonderful Universal heralds! Condition: good. There are two small areas of paper loss near the center of the front cover, affecting the top of Lanchester's hair and the right of Karloff's forehead. There are twelve tiny circular holes scattered in the rest of the cover, including two in Karloff's forehead and one in his cheek. There are six tiny circular holes around the edges of the back cover, and one in the center of the back cover. The holes described above on the front and back cover are not "matching", so they must have occurred while the herald was completely open. They affect the image on the front cover and the 2-page interior image. The herald was folded across the middle and down the middle at one time, and there is a partial slightly diagonal fold below the middle of the front that enters the bottom of Karloff's forehead. Please look closely at our super-sized images of those pages so you can see exactly how much effect they have. Learn More about condition grades
