Tucker: The Man and His Dream (released in other English-speaking countries as "Tucker"), the 1988 Francis Ford Coppola inventor car automobile visionary-or-crackpot biographical melodrama ("When they tried to buy him, he refused. When they tried to bully him, he resisted. When they tried to break him, he became an American legend. The true story of Preston Tucker."; produced by George Lucas ; based on a true story about Preston Tucker, who created a drastically different and improved type of car, but circumstances beyond his control prevented more than a small number of them from ever being produced) starring Jeff Bridges (in the title role as Preston Tucker), Joan Allen, Martin Landau (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Dean Stockwell, Frederic Forrest, Mako, Christian Slater, and Lloyd Bridges. Note that it is common knowledge that George Lucas got much help from his great friend (and at that time much more successful director) Francis Ford Coppola early in his career. When this movie was made many years later, their fortunes had reversed, and Lucas helped his old friend by producing this movie!
