An Autographed Booklet (measures 5 1/2" x 8"; 16 pages) (Learn More) Nichelle Nichols was a black African American actress from the 1950s to the 2020s. She is best remembered as Commander Uhura from the Star Trek TV series and movies. She had intended to quit Star Trek after the first season (because southern stations were refusing to air it, and it was hurting the show's ratings), but she met with Martin Luther King, who told her how great it was that she was on the show, because it showed his kids a non-stereotyped black woman, and she reconsidered and stayed on the show. Some of her other roles include: The Torturer, Are We There Yet, Snow Dogs, and Mister Buddwing. She passed away in 2022 at the age of 89. Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by Nichelle Nichols! The booklet was published by Creation Conventions in 1987, and it was sold by Miss Nichols when she appeared in person at Creation Conventions. Note that this signed item was consigned to us by a man who worked in the movie business, and who attended many premieres and special Hollywood events. When he would go to them, he would bring repro 8x10s (or other items that he happened to have that were related to stars he knew would be in attendance), and get them autographed in person.
