A 1965 Re-Release Theatrical Folded Hungarian Movie Poster (measures 15 1/4" x 22 1/4" [39 x 57 cm]) (Learn More)

Pagliacci, the 1948 (released in the U.S. in 1950) Mario Costa Italian romantic weeping-circus-clown musical opera melodrama (foreword written by Sinclair Lewis; based on the classic opera by Ruggiero Leoncavallo) starring Tito Gobbi (in the title role as Pagliacci), Gina Lollobrigida (as Nedda), Afro Poli, Onelia Fineschi, and Galliano Masini. Note that Tito Gobbi was an internationally famous opera star in the late 1940s. Apparently, in 1948, a movie was created with filmed versions of his most famous roles, and it was called "Tito Gobbi in Pagliacci & Highlights from Guglielmo Tell". Included in that movie was the filmed version of Gobbi playing Pagliacci. In that section, the part of Nedda was played by Gina Lollobrigida in her first starring role (although her singing was dubbed by Onelia Fineschi). Two years later, when Lollobrigida became an international star, this section of the movie was issued as its own film, with Lollobrigida billed over Gobbi!
