An Undated (probably 1950s) Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Movie Poster (measures approximately 14" x 20") (Learn More) Across the Pacific, the 1942 John Huston & Vincent Sherman World War II (WWII) romantic spy espionage adventure thriller ("Boy! when Bogart boffs those Japs... or when he kisses Mary Astor you can feel it Across the Pacific"; "From the Saturday Evening Post serial by Robert Carson"; based on the story "Aloha Means Good-bye" by Robert Garson; set in the days right before Pearl Harbor, about a U.S. Army officer who is court-martialed, and he boards a Japanese ship heading to the Panama Canal and discovers a Japanese plot to blow it up) starring Humphrey Bogart, Mary Astor, Sydney Greenstreet, Charles Halton, Victor Sen Yung, and Frank Wilcox. Note that this film reunited three of the stars from the previous year's "Maltese Falcon", as well as director John Huston! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this Belgian poster measures approximately 14" x 20" and is linenbacked. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the restorer did a good job, but you can see signs of the restoration from inches away (since most people look at posters framed on a wall from at least a few feet away, we don't feel this is a defect, but we feel it should be noted). OR you can't see the restoration because it was so well done, but the poster had fairly significant defects. OR no restoration was performed, but the defects are not major, and restoration could be done to the poster without re-backing it. See below for its pre-restoration defects (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). poster has a tiny holes at the crossfold and minor smudges and creases throughout, as well as some tiny tears on both foldlines. there are minor border defects, and there is paper loss at the top in the blank area. The poster is well linenbacked but the person who did so pretty much just mounted the poster and left the minor defects alone. They are not very noticeable or distracting, but if they bothered the new owner of the poster, a talented restorer could touch them up without rebacking the poster. Learn More about condition grades
