An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Queen of Outer Space, the 1958 Edward Bernds science fiction (sci-fi) fantasy space adventure thriller ("26 Million Miles Through The Unknown Universe -- To The Indescribable Terrors and Beauties of Planet Venus!"; "Mankind's First Fantastic Flight to Venus -- the Female Planet!"; "From a story by Ben Hecht"; "Screenplay by Charles Beaumont") starring Zsa Zsa Gabor (often mistaken for playing the title role!), Eric Fleming, Dave Willock, Laurie Mitchell (in the title role as Queen Yllana), Lisa Davis, and Paul Birch. Note that Ben Hecht, who is given credit for the story, and Charles Beaumont, credited with the screenplay, were two of the most talented writers ever to work in Hollywood. So how did they end up working on this low budget cheesy grade Z movie? Legend has it that Hecht told the story at a party, and someone who overheard it started making a movie of it, and Hecht heard about it and demanded screen credit! As to Charles Beaumont, it surely was the low point of his otherwise illustrious career! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. Prior to linenbacking, the poster had been displayed, and the reds in the poster had faded considerably. It had pinholes around the edges, with some at the crossfolds. It had diagonal creases in the top corners. The bottom 2" of the poster was folded back at one time. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was fairly well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects, and the restorer did not at all address the fading. Surprisingly, it could still be displayed as it is, because the fading is not that evident (except when compared to an unfaded example), but bear in mind this poster's very significant defects before bidding on it. Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame.
