Date Sold 1/4/2015 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 9 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More) Broadway Melody of 1936, the 1935 Roy Del Ruth New York City romantic theater stage acting comedy musical ("Let's go to the giant show!"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Jack Benny, Eleanor Powell, Robert Taylor, Una Merkel, Frances Langford, Sid Silvers, Buddy Ebsen (in his first movie!), June Knight, Vilma Ebsen (Buddy Ebsen's sister, in her only movie role), Harry Stockwell, and Nick Long Jr. Note that this movie was originally titled "Broadway Melody of 1935", but it likely had its name changed to "Broadway Melody of 1936", because it was released near the end of 1935, and they didn't want it to seem "dated"! Also note that this movie includes a wacky sequence where the woman hired to star in the show does not show up, and Sid Silvers has to dress up in drag and convince Jack Benny he is the female star! Note that June Knight was a striking blonde who appeared in 12 movies between 1930 and 1940, two of them in uncredited roles. Perhaps she had bad luck, but her movies were very forgettable, and she is completely forgotten today. We realize there is an element of gambling to this, but we made only a small effort to find the best stills in these lots, and, if you have any willingness to gamble at all, you may find that you get some great stills that were not pictured!
