An Original Vintage Unfolded German Stage Play Poster (measures 33 1/4" x 46 3/4" [84 x 119 cm]) (Learn More) 16 Norddeutsches Theatertreffen (literally translates to "16th North German Theater Meeting"), the 1989 German stage poster promoting a theater festival to be held in Osnabruck, Germany from May to June. Note that this poster features Volker Pfuller art of actors with classic theater masks. Volker Pfuller is a German artist from the 1950s to the present. He is one of Germany's most important poster, graphics and stage designers, and has won the German/Swiss/Austrian "100 Best Posters of the Year" contest many times. Through early and intense study of the famed Berlin Poster Collection at the Museum for German History (DHM), he is deeply rooted in and inspired by classical Berlin poster art from the 1910s and 1920s (by artists such as Jo Steiner, Klinger, Gipkens, Edel, Zille, Fenneker and even Toulouse-Lautrec), and German Expressionism. As a professor of poster and stage design in Berlin and Leipzig, he has handed down this tradition to a next generation, many of whom have become leading poster artists, illustrators and professors themselves (such as Wagenbreth, Feuchtenberger, ATAK and many others). Important Added Info: Please note that this is one of the first 226 items we are currently auctioning in this set of auctions are mostly non-movie posters (and most of them are from countries outside the U.S.). It occurred to us that it makes far more sense to auction these in our auction of "special posters" (which also includes lots of non-movie posters) than in our auctions of "oversized rolled" items that include many U.S. posters (like banners, 40x60s, etc). This item needs to be shipped in a tube over 30" (perhaps much longer). WHILE IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THIS POSTER CAN BE COMBINED WITH THE 773 SPECIAL POSTERS THAT FOLLOWS THE FIRST 226, THERE ARE ALSO MANY CASES WHERE IT CAN NOT BE COMBINED. The main reason for this would be if you buy many of the regular posters and a small number of the very oversized ones. If they were combined, the very oversized one would surely become damaged, so in that case, it would need to go in its own tube, and please bear this in mind before bidding on this very oversized poster.
