Date Sold 12/11/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A Linenbacked Special Poster (measures 27 1/4" x 39 1/4" [69 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) Esquire ("The Magazine for Men"), the magazine that was essentially a precursor of Playboy, which meant that it was filled with scholarly articles on a wide variety of subjects, but which also had pictures and artwork of sexy women (in the 1940s, they had art by Alberto Vargas, and Ernest Chiriacka in the 1950s). Once Playboy kind of took over that market, Esquire became more of a literary and scholarly magazine, with less emphasis on overt sex, but still aimed specifically at men (especially upscale ones). If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good to fine. The poster was never folded. It had minor wear in the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
