An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song, the 1971 Melvin Van Peebles black African American blaxploitation crime thriller ("You Bled My Momma - You Bled My Poppa - But You Wont Bleed Me"; "Rated X by an all-white jury"; considered to be the first 'blaxploitation' movie as it preceded 'Shaft' by a few months!) starring Melvin Van Peebles (in the title role as Sweetback), Simon Chuckster, Hubert Scales, John Dullaghan, and West Gale. Note that most reference sites refer to this movie's title as being "Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song", but the first release U.S. posters we have seen all refer to it simply as "Sweet Sweetback". It WAS released in some non-U.S. countries under the longer title. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. The poster has many creases scattered throughout and a few creases and tears along portions of the upper horizontal fold (see our image). Some of those tears are repaired with tape from the back. There is a studio-issued snipe glued over the original X-rating area (one could choose to leave it as it is, or it certainly could be removed, either by a talented amateur or a professional, with or without other restoration).
