He is one of the most important pin-up and glamour artists of the twentieth century. He passed away in 1980 at the age of 66. Artist: Gil Elvgren Important Added Info: Note that Gil Elvgren did the wonderful sexy art for this Pangburn's candy ad. It was printed by Brown and Bigelow, the company that made calendars in the late 1940s and early 1950s, and we have auctioned a number of sample calendar pages from them over the years. This could be a calendar sample, or it could be some other sort of advertising poster. In case you were wondering, Pangburn Candy was a Texas company that originated in Fort Worth and while they made many products, the company is likely best-remembered for Millionaires, made with Texas pecans, caramel, milk chocolate, a touch of honey, and various fillings (identified by the "squiggles" on top of the candy). The Pangburn Candy Co. closed in February 1999 and Russell Stover acquired the trademarks a month later. Pangburn Millionaires are now produced by Russell Stover. What IS linenbacking?
