An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked English Double Crown Movie Poster (DC; measures 20" x 30" [51 x 76 cm]) (Learn More) Cool Hand Luke, the classic 1967 Stuart Rosenberg prison escape crime thriller ("The man... and the motion picture that simply do not conform."; "What we have here is a failure to communicate."; "It looks like Luke is communicating real good- with women... with men... like with just about everybody!"; "'Hell - that Luke is a real world-shaker!'"; about a hard headed inmate) starring Paul Newman ("Paul Newman just bugs the establishment as Cool Hand Luke"; nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; in the title role "as Cool Hand Luke", Lucas Jackson), George Kennedy (winner of the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Dragline), J.D. Cannon (as Society Red), Jo Van Fleet (as Arletta, Luke's mother), Robert Drivas (as Loudmouth Steve), Lou Antonio (as Koko), Strother Martin (as "Captain", the warden of the prison), Dennis Hopper (as Babalugats), Clifton James (as Carr), Wayne Rogers (as Gambler), Harry Dean Stanton (as Tramp), Morgan Woodward (as Boss Godfrey, "the man with no eyes", who has no dialogue at all, but who plays a very significant role), Joy Harmon (as "Lucille", the sexy girl washing the car), Cyril 'Chips' Robinson (as the black African American boy who helps Paul Newman escape), Jan Watson, and Susanne Benton (Watson and Benton only appear in the photo that Luke sends to the inmates of the prison to cheer them up!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned this English poster before! It is a double crown, that measures 20" x 30", and it has no studio information at all on it, or any printer information, but being a "teaser" poster, that is not that surprising. We have never seen the tagline "The Roughest, Toughest Film of This (or any) Year!" on any other poster, and of course, it has a great image of Paul Newman about to be brutally hit by Strother Martin because of his failure to communicate! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had light creases and scuffs scattered throughout, including some over the title area. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The creases and scuffs are not very noticeable when the poster is looked at straight on, and since few people would display any poster at an angle, we feel this will look great on the new owner's wall.
