An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Vertical British Quad Movie Poster (BQ; Quad Crown; measures 30" x 40" [76 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) In Peril of Their Lives, the 1912 Pat Hartigan silent family sailing adventure rescue melodrama short ("Searching for father"; about a family on a fishing trip where the women collect shellfish and the men fish but later their boat wrecks which traps the men on rocks; the women, drawn by a gunshot in the distance, find and help a hunter bitten by a rattlesnake, and they and their new found friend are able to rescue the fisherman!) starring Edward Coxen, Ruth Roland, Marin Sais, and John E. Brennan NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that movie paper from this film is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we were consigned this vertical British quad poster. Also note that few people know that in the early days of British quads, they were originally in a vertical format (but they measured 30" x 40", just as they continue to do throughout the years). There is an oddity to this poster, which we have seen on a few of these "vertical quads". It is that there is a 2 1/2" strip down the left border that has the title written vertically with the studio symbols on either side. We suspect this is so that these posters could also be sent to U.S. theaters, where they could trim away the left border, and the poster would fit in their one-sheet frames! This is because so few of them survive, almost surely because of the massive paper shortages in England during World War II! At some point in the 1950s, they changed orientation to be horizontal, and they have remained that way to the present day. Finally note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II English poster! Virtually no English posters survive from the 1940s or earlier, because during World War II there were many paper shortages resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! Finally that this poster was folded at one time, but it has been stored flat, and because it is somewhat fragile we are not refolding it and it will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. The poster has tack holes, tears small stains and some tiny paper loss around the edges with a 5" diagonal tear in the upper right of the image. Someone put a piece of paper tape on the back of that longer tear. After linenbacking the poster will display well and it will require very little paint restoration within the image.
