An Original 1938 (from the first release of this movie in Belgium) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Movie Poster (measures 24" x 31" [61 x 79 cm]) (Learn More) Fanny Elssler (released in some countries as "Ballerina"), the 1937 Paul Martin German French royalty romantic melodrama (about the heir to the French throne who is distracted by pretty women, and ignoring his responsibilities, so a woman is assigned to get him interested in her, so she can get him back on track, but then he falls in love with her, with tragic results) starring Lilian Harvey (in the title role as Fanny Elssler), Rolf Mobius, Willy Birgel, Paul Hoffmann, and Liselotte Schaak NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this Belgian poster! Also note that this is a rare "pre-War" Belgian poster. Prior to World War II, Belgian posters were much larger than the ones from after the war, and they are extremely rare (because during WWII, there was a massive paper shortage in Belgium, and they took virtually every poster and map, and printed new posters on the backs of them!). What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster once had a snipe over the title area and it was removed, but there are tiny bits of surface paper loss scattered in that area. It had some marks in the right of the woman's forehead, with some tiny paper loss and dot stains scattered in the blue background areas. It had a few small tears in the borders. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
