Date Sold 8/20/2015Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Ride Him, Cowboy, the 1932 Fred Allen wild horse cowboy western (about a cowboy who finds a horse that was accused of killing a man, and is called "The Devil Horse", and he is able to get the horse a pardon, and he trains it and later finds out that it was innocent of the murder, which had actually been done by one of the town's leading citizens and blamed on the horse) starring John Wayne, Duke ("His Devil Horse"), Ruth Hall, Henry B. Walthall, Harry Gribbon, Otis Harlan, Frank Hagney, and Glenn Strange. Note that this was the very first appearance of "Duke", the horse. Not only would he become John Wayne's horse in his six Vitagraph westerns, but over time, his name would become John Wayne's nickname, which stayed with him the rest of his life! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: good. The card had some tears around the edges and someone restored the tears from the back without backing the card. The image area was in pretty nice condition, and there were some faint smudges in the white background areas. At some point after the card was restored, it acquired surface paper loss in the middle right, which affects the bottom right corner of the inset image and the white background next to it (certainly, any talented restorer could restore this without backing the card, and we can provide a scan of that portion of the image to the new buyer to aid in restoring that small area).
