Network, the classic 1976 Sidney Lumet (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) television TV news black comedy ("Prepare yourself for a perfectly outrageous motion picture."; "Television will never be the same"; written by Paddy Chayefsky; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; it is amazing how well this movie has predicted the future of television!) starring Faye Dunaway (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), William Holden (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Peter Finch (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; both the nomination and the award were posthumous), Robert Duvall, Ned Beatty (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), and Beatrice Straight (winner of the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film; hers was the briefest performance, 5 minutes and 2 seconds, ever to win an Oscar)
