An Autographed 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm] Music Publicity Still (Learn More) Louis Armstrong (also known as Satchmo or Pops) was a legendary jazz trumpeter, singer and actor from the 1910s to the 1970s. Some of his songs include: Mack the Knife, Hello Dolly, and St. Louis Blues. He had a memorable acting role in the movie "Hello, Dolly!". He passed away in 1971 at the age of 69. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Louis Armstrong, who not only put "Satchmo" on one of his images, but also wrote an inscription "To Rev Niles Stern, Best Wishes From Louis Armstrong". The still is from the Associated Booking Corporation, which was co-founded by Armstrong and Joe Glaser in 1940. The still is undated, but we think it is likely from the late 1940s or the 1950s, but that is solely a guess. If anyone can add more about this great still, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Our consignor is a longtime collector who purchased this signed item from a reputable dealer. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.
