What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The poster had small paper loss at some crossfolds and some tiny creases, scuffs, darkening, and a few tiny bits of paper loss on parts of the folds. It had much paper loss scattered in the bottom 3/4 of the left blank border and also across the top of the poster, slightly affecting the image. It had pinholes around the edges, with some pinholes scattered in the image, and it had stains and some paper loss across the bottom 2". Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. Someone chose to linenback this with no restoration, although they put rice paper behind the poster, which helps you see all the areas of paper loss in the borders, and the above defects are clearly noticeable. If I owned this rare and desirable poster, I would either have additional restoration performed to it while linenbacked, or I would have it removed from the linen and re-backed and restored, because afterwards, it will display great, but that will be the choice of the new owner of this poster!
