An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4") (Learn More) Black Friday, the 1940 Arthur Lubin Universal mad scientist crime murder horror thriller (a wild story of a mad scientist, played by Boris Karloff, whose friend is badly injured in a car crash by a gangster who is fatally wounded, and the scientist is able to save his friend by transplanting part of the brain of the dead gangster into his friend's brain!; unfortunately, his friend then takes on both his own personality and that of the dead gangster, and he becomes a "Jekyll & Hyde", and when he is the gangster, he is seeking revenge against his gang members, including Bela Lugosi in a surprisingly minor role!) starring Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Stanley Ridges, Anne Nagel, Anne Gwynne, and James Craig. Note that Universal incredibly deceptively advertised this movie! The movie was pre-sold as a Karloff/Lugosi film even though Lugosi only has a small part. They gave Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi equal top billing, and the one-sheet has large head shots of both stars, and poor Stanley Ridges, who was actually the star of the movie, is not even pictured on the poster, although they found room for an image of Anne Nagel! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: ARE YOU UNFAMILIAR WITH GLASS SLIDES? Many collectors are not familiar with them, because they are incredibly rare, and are rarely offered for sale. Click HERE for a brief history of what they are and what they were used for. Note that we have provided two images at right for this glass slide. The first image is a high quality scan of just the image area of the slide that shows what it looks like with light shining through it (as it was originally seen when displayed). The second image is a photograph of the entire glass slide (including either the cardboard holder or black tape around the edges, depending on the type of glass slide it is). Clicking on either image will open a new browser window with larger, high quality versions of both images. Condition: good to very good. there is a crack in the lower right corner of the slide; it is entirely outside of the image area and is approximately 1/2" in length (the slide is in no danger of cracking further or falling apart) there is a small circular stain over the left middle of the bottom area where the play dates are; there is some slight surface "frosting" over much of the image area, but it disappears when you look at the slide through light (and may be easily removable); there is a white circle between the glass in the lower left corner that does not affect the image); the slide does not have a cardboard holder, but rather there is black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of older glass slides Learn More about condition grades
