(Learn More) Mary of Scotland, the 1936 John Ford historical Scottish royalty romantic biography melodrama ("History called her the 'Temptress'..."; "One of the greatest love stories of all time... brought to the screen by a marvelous cast of famous stars"; "From the play by Maxwell Anderson") starring Katharine Hepburn (in the title role as Mary, Queen of Scots), Fredric March, Florence Eldridge (as Queen Elizabeth I), Douglas Walton, John Carradine, "And A Tremendous Cast of Famous Stars" NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that RKO was either expecting this movie to be a major blockbuster, or they were wanting it to appear that way, because they made an incredibly elaborate 76 page 12" x 15" pressbook for this movie that is bound at the spine like a softcover book! There was also a deluxe boxed version that was apparently sent to major theaters! Also note that when studios would prepare pressbooks they would often include a sample of the herald. Most often, the herald is no longer still with the pressbook. Sometimes, the herald by itself will sell for almost as much as the rest of the entire pressbook! This pressbook contains the original herald which is pictured next to the pressbook below. Also note that this pressbook also contains two really cool special 8" x 10" promo stills that were sold to theaters by the studio. One has a portrait of Hepburn with a facsimile autograph, and the other has March. Both are printed on regular paper with blank backs, so that theaters could order these and use them as heralds, having the blank back overprinted with their play date information. Condition: very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. There are some smudges and stains on the back cover and on the last few interior pages, but otherwise, the pressbook is in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
