An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) The Painted Desert, the 1931 Howard Higgin cowboy western (about two men who find an abandoned baby and they spend the rest of their lives arguing over who should have custody) starring William Boyd (billed as "Bill Boyd"), Helen Twelvetrees, William Farnum, J. Farrell MacDonald, and Clark Gable (in his very first real movie; he played a villain!). Note that Gable had appeared in 13 movies between 1923 and 1926, but all in uncredited roles, and he became disillusioned and went to Broadway, where he achieved success. He had one more uncredited role in 1930, but most people consider this his first "real" movie, because he played the lead villain. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: very good. There is a small tear in the middle of the bottom border and another small tear in the right of the top border, and both of them have a piece of tape on the back. There is a 3" horizontal crease in the upper left of the still extending into Gable's hat, and some minor creases around the edges of the still. Learn More about condition grades
