A 1986 Re-Release Theatrical Linenbacked Spanish Movie Poster (measures 28" x 39" [71 x 99 cm]) (Learn More) Bringing Up Baby, the 1938 Howard Hawks romantic raising-a-leopard screwball comedy (about a paleontologist trying to get a million dollars for his museum, and he is joined in his quest by a flighty heiress who has a pet leopard named Baby!) starring Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant, Charlie Ruggles, Barry Fitzgerald, May Robson, Walter Catlett, Fritz Feld, Asta the Dog (the same dog as in the Thin Man movies!), Nissa the Leopard (in the title role as Baby), and Leona Roberts NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Mataix Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had minor fold and border wear. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, but someone attached it to a frame with pieces of double-stick tape in the middle of each side, in the outer edge of the excess linen. On three sides, the tape was removed, causing surface paper loss on the edge of the excess linen. On the right side, the tape is still there, and it could easily be removed, although that would also cause surface paper loss in the excess linen. Or one could choose to have some of the excess linen trimmed on all four sides, since the restorer left 1 1/2" on all sides, a larger than normal amount.
