An Original Vintage Theatrical Danish Movie Program (measures 5 1/2" x 9" [14 x 23 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More) Pori, the 1929 Baron A. von Dungern German silent Africa expedition adventure documentary featuring Herbert Kluge and A.P. von Gontard. It appears this movie was never released in the U.S. Note that those interested in jungle documentaries are familiar with several explorers who went to Africa and filmed their adventures, which were then released to movie theaters. These included Osa & Martin Johnson, Frank Buck, H.A. Snow & Sidney Snow, Armand Denis (and his two wives), and others. But until we were consigned this incredibly rare Danish program, we were unaware of German explorer Herbert Kluge (and apparently his wife or girlfriend, A.P. von Gontard), who apparently also explored Africa and filmed this single documentary in 1929. We were amazed that we could find no further information about this movie or these explorers, and given that they only made the one movie, it seems quite possible they were killed in Africa!
