The book was published by the Museum of Modern Art Film Library through Doubleday. Note that this marked a huge turning point in the life of author Peter Bogdanovich! He had been an actor with limited success, and he got a job at the Museum of Modern Art in their film department, and he authored this book, which led to a new career in the 1960s as a writer for Esquire magazine (and of course, he then became a director himself)!
