An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Italian One-Panel Movie Poster (measures 39 1/2" x 54 1/2") (Learn More) La Mano della Morta (released in the U.S. as "Man of Death"), the 1949 Carlo Campogalliani Italian epic horror suspense melodrama starring Maria Martin (billed as Mary Martin, no doubt intentionally to mis-lead viewers into thinking the real Mary Martin was in this movie!), Adriano Rimoldi, Carlo Ninchi, Renato De Carmine, Germana Paolieri, Saro Urzi, Ernesto Sabbatini, and Domenico Viglione Borghese NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Rinaldo Geleng Important Added Info: Note that this Italian one-panel measures 39 1/2" x 54 1/2" and is linenbacked. Also note that this is a rare country of origin poster from this Italian movie! Also note that, unlike all of the other Italian one-panel posters I have seen, this poster has a horizontal image! Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had tiny tears and tiny areas of paper loss on most foldlines. The poster had creases, smudges, tears, and areas of paper loss in the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, but the restorer chose to put much paint in the blank borders to "even them out" (it was extremely well done, and I would think few collectors would realize it had been done, and I consider it a minor defect, given that it does not affect the image at all).
