An Original Vintage Theatrical Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14 1/4" x 22 3/4" [36 x 58 cm]) (Learn More) Mantan Messes Up, the 1948 Sam Newfield all-black African American comedy ("He knows what he wants when he wants it!") starring Mantan Moreland, Monte Hawley, Lena Horne (in archival footage from the 1944 short "Boogie-Woogie Dream"), Eddie Green, Buck and Bubbles, Nina Mae McKinney, Red Caps, Neva Peoples, Bo Jinkins, and the Four Tones. Note that until June of 2015, we had only seen 1950s re-release one-sheets from this movie, but at that time, we auctioned a 1948 first release one-sheet! This confirmed that first release items were distributed by Lucky Star Productions and Toddy Pictures, while 1950s re-release items were distributed by Toddy Pictures alone. Important Added Info: Note that original release Toddy Pictures movie posters from this movie are extremely scarce! There is a black & white Toddy Pictures one-sheet that seems to surely be a 1950s re-release. We have only auctioned a window card and a few stills that we believe to truly be from the first Toddy release. Also note that along with the play dates printed on the top of the card is the mention that this movie was double-billed with "Racket Doctor", which was a 1948 Toddy re-release of a 1940 movie, which is further evidence that this card is from 1948. This window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: fair to good. There are nail holes in the top left and right, and some stains scattered throughout.
