A 1977 Re-Release Theatrical Folded East German Movie Poster (measures 22 1/2" x 32" [57 x 81 cm]) (Learn More)

Tikhij Don (released in the U.S. in 1960 as "And Quiet Flows the Don"; released in Czechoslovakia in three parts), the 1957 Sergei Gerasimov Russian revolutionary war melodrama ("This picture is being distributed by United Artists at the request of the U.S. Department of State in connection with its cultural exchange agreement with the Soviet Union."; "The epic film based on Mikhail Sholokhov's classic novel"; based on the novel 'Tikhij Don' by Mikhail Sholokhov) starring Pyotr Glebov, Elina Bystritskaya, Zinaida Kiriyenko, and Daniil Ilchenko. Note that Kino, the Russian equivalent of IMDb, says this movie was released in three parts from 1957 to 1958.

Important Added Info: Note that this East German poster measures 22 1/2" x 32" [57 x 81 cm]. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Note that this item (and others we are auctioning in this set of auctions) come to us from the estate of Lee Sanders. Mr. Sanders was a nationally recognized projectionist, film poster collector, and union activist who passed away last year, and the net proceeds from the sale of his varied and eclectic collection will be donated to promote film studies at the Besant School of Happy Valley in Ojai, Ca.

Condition: good to very good. There are several tears of varying lengths at lower center that have been repaired with conservation tape from the back.
