You'll Remember The Charge of the Scarlet Plumes!"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring John Wayne ("as Colonel David Crockett", better known as Davy Crockett), Richard Widmark ("as Colonel James Bowie"), Laurence Harvey ("as Colonel Wm. Barret Travis"), Frankie Avalon, Patrick Wayne, Linda Cristal, Joan O'Brien, Chill Wills (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Joseph Calleia, and Richard Boone (billed as "Guest Star Richard Boone"). Note that this movie was first announced by Republic Pictures in 1950, starring John Wayne, but for various reasons, the movie was never made at that time. Finally, Wayne was able to get it made (with himself as the director) a full decade later!

Artist: Reynold Brown

Condition: good to very good. The poster had tape on the back of the poster, across the bottom 1/3 of the combined poster (the place where the posters join, running across the red area just below the inset image). Obviously, someone used a series of pieces of tape placed vertically on the back of the poster to hold the two pieces of the poster together. This tape bled through to the front. The poster also had separation and paper loss on some of the crossfolds and creases, smudges, and tiny tears on some foldlines. There were pinholes, creases, smudges, and some small tears and tiny areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. The person who linenbacked the poster simply mounted it on to linen, and then crudely used red and white paint to cover over the bled through areas (see our super-sized image for more details of exactly where). They also used white paint for the poster's other minor defects, and the paint does not match the white color of the poster, so it is very noticeable. If I owned this poster, I would certainly have it re-linenbacked. After proper restoration, the poster would look great, and it is important to note that the large top image area has very few defects.
