Debout Dans la Tranchee Que l'Aurore Eclaire (literally translates to "Standing in the Trench that the Dawn Illuminates"), the 1917 French World War I (WWI) War Bond poster (with a tagline that translates to "Standing in the trench that the dawn illuminates, the soldier awakens to victory and to his home. Subscribe to the 3rd National Defense Loan") encouraging French citizens to buy war bonds, and featuring Lieutenant Jean Droit art of a French soldier.
Artist: Lieutenant Jean Droit

Condition: good. The poster has darkened, more so than on other French World War I posters we have seen. There is staining on the back of the right center of the poster, but it has very little effect on the front. There were two tears with tiny paper loss in the background just to the right of the soldier's head and some tears in the borders. Someone put conservation tape on the back of those areas and on the back of the middle crossfold.
