Unfinished Symphony (released in the U.S. in 1935 as "Lover Divine"), the 1934 Anthony Asquith & Willi Forst English/Austrian historical romantic musical biography melodrama (about classical music composer Franz Schubert, and the difficulties he faced at the beginning of his career, and how a rich man hired him to give his daughter private lessons, and that gave him enough money to finish his symphony, and he fell in love with the daughter as well!) starring Martha Eggerth, Hans Jaray (as Franz Schubert), Helen Chandler, Eliot Makeham, and Ronald Squire. Note that a German language version of this movie was made in 1933 with Eggerth and Jaray playing the lead roles, but with the rest of the cast all German actors. The following year, the two leads reprised their roles in this English language version, with an English and U.S. supporting cast, including Helen Chandler. This movie was released in the U.S. in 1935, with the new title "Lover Divine", and Helen Chandler was top billed, no doubt because she was well known to U.S. audiences from "Dracula" and other movies. In addition, when it was released in the U.S., the distributor, Gaumont British, no doubt worried that a biography of Schubert might not do well in the U.S., and the title was changed, and it was made to look like a romantic melodrama starring Helen Chandler, which was certainly deceptive!
