An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Movie Poster (measures 14" x 21 3/4" [36 x 55 cm]) (Learn More) Night and Day, the 1946 Michael Curtiz romantic musical composer biographical melodrama ("Based on the Career of Cole Porter") starring Cary Grant (as Cole Porter), Alexis Smith, Monty Woolley (who played himself; he was a real-life close personal friend of Cole Porter's), Ginny Simms, Jane Wyman, Eve Arden, Carlos Ramirez, Donald Woods, and Mary Martin. Note that the real life Cole Porter was a gay homosexual male (although he married), but this could obviously not be addressed in 1946, so the movie presents a very fictitious story of his life! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had minor fold and border wear, with a few pinholes around the edges. It had faint paint stains in the right of the "H" of "SMITH" in the credits. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting (and a talented restorer could touch them up without re-backing the poster).
