An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked German "A1" Movie Poster (measures 23" x 33" [58 x 84 cm]) (Learn More) Freud (also released as "Freud: The Secret Passion" and as "Freud, His Life, His Loves, His Secret Passion"), the 1962 John Huston biography psychology melodrama ("Alone, he fought against his own dark passions... Against the taboos of an outrageous world... Knowing that the shocking truth could ruin his career... Destroy his marriage!"; "He dared to search beyond the flesh!"; "The boldly penetrating drama of the man who tore away the world's mask of sexual innocence!"; "Knowing that the shocking truth could ruin his career... Destroy his marriage!"; "'When you are in your office I close my ears to the intimate secrets you must share!'"; "An evening with Dr. Sigmund Freud") starring Montgomery Clift (in the title role as Sigmund Freud), Susannah York, Susan Kohner, Eileen Herlie, Eric Portman, Larry Parks (making a rare screen comeback after being blacklisted for testifying in the HUAC hearings), and David McCallum. The movie was briefly released as "Freud", but did so terribly that they immediately issued it under the title "The Secret Passion", in a desperate attempt to trick film-goers into thinking they were seeing a sleazy sex movie! (it didn't work). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Bruno Rehak Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had extra horizontal folds just above and below the regular top and bottom ones, with diagonal creases at the right end of the middle fold. It had pinholes in the corners. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame.
