An Unfolded Advertising Poster (measures 24" x 36" [61 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Camel Cigarettes is an American cigarette brand introduced by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco in 1913. It started using a camel as its brand symbol because they rolled the cigarettes with Turkish paper to imitate the then-fashionable Egyptian cigarettes. In 1987, they created a mascot named Joe Camel, which was a humanoid camel that wore sunglasses and could always be seen with a cigarette in his mouth. Joe was retired in 1997 after repeated requests from the American Medical Association, and the company paid millions to settle lawsuits accusing them of using Joe Camel to market smoking to children. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. Learn More about condition grades
