A 1955 Re-release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures approximately 46" x 62") (Learn More)

The Merry Widow, the 1952 Curtis Bernhardt romantic musical ("MGM presents the saucy New musical!"; "Based on the operetta written by composer Franz Lehar and authors Victor Leon & Leo Stein") starring Lana Turner (in the title role "as The Merry Widow"), Fernando Lamas, Una Merkel, Richard Haydn, Thomas Gomez, John Abbott, and Marcel Dalio. Note that this movie was a remake of the 1934 Ernst Lubitsch movie starring Jeanette MacDonald and Maurice Chevalier.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this re-release poster has the same artwork and coloring as the original 1952 poster, but the printing information is different, which identifies it as a 1955 re-release.

Condition: fair. The poster had paper loss at some crossfolds and creases, tears, stains, and paper loss on parts of some foldlines and in the borders. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. This poster was backed onto an extremely thin linen, and at some point after linenbacking, the poster was roughly handled and there are now some creases scattered throughout the poster (in both the thin linen and the poster itself). The restoration was not very good, and most of the defects were left as they were. The poster is certainly in need of re-linenbacking and much expert professional restoration.
